Remembering and celebrating Tahma’s life with the Community

1 July 2022
It’s been a year since Tahma left us.

We had the biggest mob of people come together to celebrate his life and show their love for him, and his family.

We gathered to share in the sadness, and convey our love and respect for the family; and remember a young person who left us so tragically.

Family and friends remembered a kind, loving and caring mate with everyone yarning, laughing and telling stories about this fella. So many memories were shared that day.

Everyone met at the place of his passing, a place that we will never forget!

Nan and Aunty Barbara Ruttley did a water cleaning for the women and put some ochre on the young girls and women while Uncle Josh Bell did the smoking ceremony and put some ochre on the young boys and men.

The ochre was painted across their faces just like the painting of Tahma created by Michael Fardon.

We all listened to the family having a yarn about Tahma’s life growing up; and many were shedding tears whilst hearing these stories filled with so many memories.

We then marched to the skate park where Tahma would always hang out; and ended the day with the the biggest feed.

Everyone looked deadly on the day, wearing the specially designed shirts, to remember Tahma.

Thank you to Tahma’s family for letting the community into their lives; their grief; their joy and their celebration of Tahma’s life.

This was an event that we will never forget. Thank you to the community for a great turn out.

A big thank you also to everyone that helped and supported the event including the following:

Mad Mob (Make a Different) MOB; Youth off the street; Tharawal Aboriginal Corporation;  Airds, Housing; Campbelltown police; Campbelltown City Council; Michael Fardon; Josh Bell; Uncle Charlie; Curran Public School; Sister Kerry and anyone else that I may have forgotten to mention by name.

❤️ Miss ya Tahma ❤️
